FMP FINALLY :D

All of these were exhibited in my exhibition i am very proud of them.
i wanted to put gold luster on the bones to make it look as if its excavated
These are my final and finished sculptures. I decided to put the four sculptor that were made out of grey clay on an earth ware firing. i wanted to bring out the detail more and make it look more rocky like. putting an oxide glaze on helped bring out the marks, i had to put more oxide on than i would normally because when you put oxide on an earthenware firing a lot of it comes of in the proses.
The only downfall with these sculptures is that i had to put rods underneath them to balence them if some one had knocked the plyth a liitle bit it would of fallen over, this is becuasewhen i left them to dry after making them i had balenced them inbetween and ontop of two planks of wood, it dryed that way and left it wobbley.
I'm so pleased with this and how it turned out the people in the exhibition seemed to love harry!
This is my final piece of my plaster mould. a lot of time went into this it looks so fragile. i decided that this would go on the wight bored Even tho it is wight too it looked as if the mould was part of the bored its self.
This is my print om the bored! i think it being on the wight background makes the prints stand out. This is visually exciting to the eye and catches the viewers attention.

Print

This is my lino print. I used lino to create this abstract affect. In life drawing i had wrapped up the model in a sheet to get the form of the body and the creases this helped me to get the detail in to my sculptures so i could calve the right bit away to make it look and resemble a human form. i want this in my exhibition because it relates to my sculptors.

I have done two quick prints of this, i want to know what colours go together and i thought these two would go well. i tried to use other colours like black and yellow but didn't seem to fit in with the sculptors i had already made. i want to put this on Fabiano paper as it had more of a grainy affect, the ink will sink into the paper more where as if i use just normal paper the ink seems to spread up the page or doesn't have enough on the paper.

Change

I wanted this one to  be different even thou they are all different but instead of this one standing up i wanted it lying down. i have relieved small areas of the skeleton to show the idea more of it being inside something. The reason why i want all my sculptures to look as if its been inside rock is because  when i put the Luster on it which will turn gold once in the kiln make the sculpture become more precious. so after this possess the skeleton will actually look as if it has been excavated by archaeologists.

Pelvic bone

So this is the design of my sculpture unfortunately i forgot to take photos of the proses but the final out come lookes amazing!  i wanted to get the proportion right on this this was hard because i kept getting it wrong the pelvic bone was either to high or to low but i got around it. i want the viewers to see this straight away so making a larger sculpture helped. as this one is bigger if this is placed next to the smaller ones you will see it straight away as it catches your attention but with out the smaller one being next to it i think it will loose its attention.

Harry

This is the making of my porcelain proses of Harry. i wanted the whole of the human skeleton and more of a challenge for my self so using porcelain was a big step as i don't really get on with it, i find that you have to work quick and be careful other wise everything you have calved into moves with it. Even thou Antony Gormley has less detail he fires them and leaves them unglazed i want to do this with this sculpture so it look natural and in its form.

This will be fired just need a bit more cleaning up on the edges.

..

I have designed and created another sculpture  to go into the Series this is quite a small sculpture i tend to create another one on a larger scale. i like this one i have picked out the leg and foot in this one partly because i want to have different parts of the skeleton in my Series. this was hard for myself to sculpt as the foot was such a detailed area, i got through it and it turned out well i am pleased with this.
My Out Come

The third but First

This was my third sculpture i had finished but first to go into The Series. I am so proud of this cant believe how well it turned out. finally i have come out of my comfort zone and have created this. i have  fine detail on the scull and rock like  form on the outside. The outside is abstract and doesn't represent the human form as much like the other ones did. I remembered to hollow this one out this time and will be going in the kiln

My first attempt

This is going to be my first attempt of creating the human skeleton in the and abstract form. i want to show verry fine detail in the ribs whilst the outside is all rocky and abstract.

I have created the design, i like it but i am not happy with it. i want to get a more abstract affect and make it look like the bones live in the rock not in a human form. i want it to look as if it has been excavated. so i will attempt to try and create a different texture on the outside and make it look more abstract. the reason i want the skeleton in the rock is because i wanted i to look like it had lived ad dies in the rock with this sculpture i cant see it being how i want it to be as the outside is in the shape of the human form to, its stating the obvious.

Again i have created a sculpture but it still is in the shape of a human form i need to get out of my comfort zone and make the abstract figures i want and need to put in the exhibition what i like about my piece of work is the texture on the outside i want to use this in the next sculpture i make. The other down fall about these two sculptures is that i forgot to hollow them out so even if they were to go the the exhibition i couldn't of put them in anyway as they couldn't of been fired.

My Plastaaa MOulddd

Still having my mind fixed on the skeleton idea i decided to take a cast of my face. to do this process you must have a tutor with you at all times. To do this process i just had to sit there and let my  lovely tutor Claire do all the hard work and put mod rock on my face. before applying you must take all make up off and put Vaseline on eyebrows and eyelashes, this prevents any off your hair drying-in to the mod rock and being plucked away as the Vaseline is oily and makes it hard for wet mod rock to dry on it. i  had to cut strips of this befor i did anything, whilst this was being dipped in water Claire made sure that it went on evenly and that my nose area was done last so i could breath. when coming to the nose area Claire handed me straws to put up my nose so i still had some air source coming in whilst she was covering that bit up. i thought this was fun and was an amazing idea.

 THIS IS HARRY!

i have began to like the skeleton so i have decided to name him HARRY as i will be working through my fmp a lot with him. Again i had used the same technique with the mod rock but wanted half of Harry's face so mine and his could collide together if it was to work out well. i put Vaseline all over the half  i wanted to cast to make sure the mode rock would slip away from him which it did and worked out well. i had to cut my full mod rock face in half and attach it to Harry's cast with mod rock, this wasn't to hard i started to get used to this mod rock by now.
After waiting for the cast to dry i then mixed up some plasta making sure i had bits of clay to keep the cast straight and still. when i pored it in i then tapped the cast against the table assuring it had no air bubbles or it would leave huge holes in my cast when it dries.

After a couple of hours of sanding and making sure it was smooth i the had the final and finished out come on my right. i was so pleased with this that i wanted it to go in my exhibition as it fitted into my brief well too.

My Candle challenge

I want to try and achieve this design by carving into a candle.I had two weeks of college of because of half term so i couldn't use the material, clay like i wanted to on my brief so to help me get used to the human form and nature i thought i could experiment using different mediums like wax.

On the left you can see the beginning of the possess. this was quite difficult to do because i had never done this it took me three hours of calving with a knife and a cocktail stick to achieve the out come on the right. After creating this i decided that i wanted to focus more on the human structure not the anatomy

here is another candle i calved. instead of showing what was inside the human anatomy i wanted to revile the skeleton. This was a small canddle so calving a real spine was quite tricky as the wax would just crumble away because the tools i was using were to big and the detail was too small so to prevent any more breakage i decided just to indent dots to create a spine.

This peacock was for my image project in which we had to choose an object and create ten different outcomes for this one object. I chose to do my Grandmothers camera, she had only ever used this once in here life and it was when my father was about ten years old so this camera had one life it was the first and last time it had taken pictures. This drawing of the peacock was what was also taken on this day but all the pictures had been lost so this is capturing the moment and memory.

:D

here he is glazed and finished! need to change the glaze underneath him to a lighter one. i think this turned out well i didnt have to reglaze him i put the right amount of coats on this time getting good haha!

IKEA TABLE

This is the making of my IKEA table, we had to pair up and create something out of a plat packed table. me and Danielle my team member created this my using matches and the match boxes. we used clay because we wanted it to be ephemeral so we didn't fire the clay so eventually it would crack and brake. burning the matches was a risk as we didn't know how the out come would be after lighting it but we licked the idea of how we did the work and how the flames would finish it for us. My table had been exhibited in ikea which made me feel I had achieved what I set out to do.
I made draws out of the match boxes and put them on top of o e another to sturdy the leg of the table, i put string for little handles and put pictures of the table being made and lit
This is what it looked like after we to the cardboard out of the centre, we were inspires by the pattern and decided the matches should be places the same way the card bored was.
we wanted you see the samples alight so we put it in the table to also see how it would look like
i love this sample, the flames are reflecting on to the table
This is what the matches looked like after lighting them, this turned out well and safety was included whilst taking out this exercise.

On my travels in Greece come across this little street with the sky lit with lanterns
MY photo i took on my way up to the Acropolis!
This is my lino print of my Grandmothers old camera. I cut into lino and calved out the image and printed it in different colours, i thought this turned out very well because im not good with confidence when doing it.
